Parliament
The parliament building, the seat of the hungarian parliament, was built between 1885 and 1904 in Budapest. The 268 meter long, 123 meters wide and 96 meters high landmark stands directly on the bank of the Danube. The model for the parliament building was London's Westminster Palace. The facade is characterized by neo-Gothic elements, such as numerous towers and gables. The interior of the building, decorated with frescoes and murals, was kept in neoclassical style. The architect Imre Steindl could never see his creation in the finished state, as he tragically went blind before completion.
